Sounds of Comfort
Earlier this December I was invited to play in a “Tree of Memories” Community Candlelight Memorial Service that, in its 24th Year, draws the community together to remember and honour loved ones no longer with us to celebrate the holidays.
Traditionally each year close to six hundred people attend; this year due to the pandemic, and recognizing the responsibility of keeping our community safe and well served, an alternate program was chosen.
A Special service of reflection was held with a small number of participants, and recorded to be viewed remotely, in hopes of offering words and music of comfort, this holiday season.
This video of the music performances has been produced, courtesy of Brockie Donovan Funeral and Cremation Services, featuring myself on the harp with vocalist, Katherine McFarlane. Just click on the arrow in the middle of the top image.
The selections of music are:
“Wintersong” by Sarah McLachlan
“Tonight I Hold This Candle” by Allan Pederson
“Silent Night” by Franz Gruber
“What Child is This” - Traditional English
